Nationwide look for a strong finish to season at Brands Hatch
Nationwide backed driver Daniel Cammish heads to Brands Hatch for the final two rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB season, with a chance of securing a third-straight title.
The famous Kent circuit has been a good venue for Dan, who has won there each of the past three seasons, with the final two being en route to championship success. It is also the venue where he started his partnership with Nationwide, after a guest appearance in 2014.
Dan is third in the standings, but still could secure the title on the final weekend of the season. He knows he has to do the very best he can, and is looking to finish the season on a high after disappointment at the previous two rounds at Knockhill, where he was forced off track, and Silverstone, where he suffered a car fire whilst leading comfortably.
With a win at Knockhill and second place at Silverstone in the other races, Dan could understandably be frustrated at the loss of vital championship points, but he is optimistic about his chances at Brands Hatch.
“I’m looking forward to it,” said Dan. “It’s always been a good track for me and we’ve had some good results there in the last couple of years. It’s great for me because it’s where the Nationwide journey started, back in 2014. Tim watched me do so well in the guest car and that’s when the relationship started. We’ve had some good success in the past few years.
“I’m disappointed in where we are in the championship but I’ll be there to do the best I possibly can for Nationwide, PPG and the Redline team. I just want to go there and do the best job we can. Nothing less than a double victory will do. And no flames!”
The Nationwide RaceHub will once again act as the central meeting point for Nationwiders and will be located in the trade area behind the main grandstand on the pit straight. With a number of guests expected on Sunday, there will be plenty of participants willing to try their luck and beat Dan’s time on the Simulator. Dan will also be on hand to sign autographs and meet race fans.
Dan will be on track for two 45-minute free practice sessions on Friday 29th September at 11:30 and 16:40, with qualifying on Saturday 30th at 12:05. The two races take place on Sunday 1st October, with race one at 10:40 and race two being shown live on ITV4 at 16:15.
