Nationwide Support UK Air Ambulances as Corporate Charity for 2017
Nationwide are delighted to announce that our Corporate Charity partnership for 2017 will be UK Air Ambulances. Nationwide will be fundraising for the 21 Local Air Ambulances Services across the country, who are members of the Association of Air Ambulances Charity.
From the hundreds of great causes that were suggested, the shortlist was whittled down to four charities. The Nationwide team were then asked to vote on which cause to support this year and saw a great response, with hundreds of votes submitted with the chosen charity being announced at Nationwides Annual Conference.
About the Association of Air Ambulances (Charity) Ltd
The Association of Air Ambulances is a National charity working with all 21 Local Air Ambulance Charities that operate 39 charity funded aircraft in the UK.
Air Ambulance Helicopters provide a rapid response to trauma and medical emergencies. Each Air Ambulance in the UK treats approximately 2 seriously ill patients every day with each mission costing on average around £2,500.
The 21 local Air Ambulance Charities receive no direct national lottery or government funding and rely completely on generous donations. The partnership between Nationwide and the Association of Air Ambulances will positively impact on the ability of Air Ambulances to reach critical injured and ill people across the country.
Michael Wilmshurst, CEO of Nationwide commentated on the new Charity Partnership saying; ‘We often see stories about the lifesaving and life changing service of the Air Ambulance Service. We hope that Nationwide’s support will make a difference so the life-enhancing and lifesaving work they carry out on a daily basis can continue.
‘As we have seen in previous years Nationwiders really do get behind our charity partnerships and go that extra mile fundraising for great causes.
‘I am confident the team will again rise to the challenge to support such a fantastic cause and I look forward to hearing about the great fundraising activities that will be taking place by our team’s up and down the country.’
Liz Campbell, Chair of the Association of Air Ambulances (Charity) Ltd commented; ‘Trauma and medical emergencies can happen to anyone and although these can’t be prevented, we can ensure that the very best care is provided to those who need it as quickly as possible, via air ambulance.
‘The support from our partnership with Nationwide means that sustainable funds will be available to maintain this core lifesaving service, benefiting the lives of patients throughout the UK. We look forward to working with the Nationwide Team in their fundraising activities.’
*Nationwide’s Corporate Charity Donations will go directly to the AAAC, who will distribute the funds equally across the local air ambulances charities. This means all Nationwide’s fundraising will be supporting life-saving services in your local area.
