The 2018 Bodyshop Magazine Awards brought well deserved success to Nationwide’s Technical Training and Professional Development Academy, whilst finalists James Oakley (Paint Technician) and Andrew Dodge (MET Apprentice) celebrate their nominations after both just missing out on the top spots.

The awards evening, held on Friday 28th September started with a bang, with fire dancers providing the entertainment at a champagne reception, where industry professionals came together in an evening of recognition. The three Nationwide finalists gathered, all feeling nervous but equally delighted to be nominated.

With the awards underway, the Nationwide table was filled with cheers as the Nationwide Technical Training and Professional Development Academy were announced as winners of the 2018 Training and Education Award. The team, who are no strangers to holding this award, gathered excitingly on stage to accept the accolade from TV’s Chris Hollins.

Technical Training Manager, Chris McGowan, said: “This award means a lot to us as a team. We have worked incredibly hard over the last year to provide industry leading training to both our team members and our external candidates. Thank you to Bodyshop Magazine and everyone from Nationwide who’s continued support made this possible.”

The academy is pleased to add this latest accolade to a list of successes they have already seen in 2018. People Director, Louise Cope, said: “I am so proud of both the Nationwide Training Team and the wider team who have helped and supported them through every success. So much passion, drive and teamwork goes into making the academy the award-winning facility that it is. Congratulations to the team, and well done to Nationwide’s other nominees, James and Andrew, who should be very proud of their achievements.”

Christine Dalton, Head of HR Shared Services, added: “There is no team more deserving than those in our Training Academy as they surpass expectations again and again. They continuously develop their offering in line with new technology and their hard work has once again been recognised within this industry. Well done to the team.”

Nationwide Yeovil’s Andrew Dodge narrowly missed out on the MET Apprentice of the Year award, along with Nationwide Portsmouth’s James Oakley who was pipped to the post in the Paint Technician of the Year Award.
